Weather
The Summer days on Lake of the Woods are generally warm with cooler temperatures in the evenings, but you should be prepared for all types of weather. Lighter clothing is essential, but a sweatshirt, long pants, rain gear and a comfortable pair of shoes are a good idea. Don't forget your bathing suit!

Pets
Pets are more than welcome to join their owners at Totem Resorts as long as they are well behaved and are kept on a leash. You are also responsible for any damage done by your pet. When bringing a pet over 3 months of age, into Canada, you must have a valid rabies vaccination certificate issued during the past 36 months.

Crossing the Border
U.S. visitors require proof of citizenship: birth certificate, driver's licence or a passport. You must have proof of citizenship and photo ID, but we strongly recommend a valid passport. When entering Canada, you are allowed to bring a 40 oz. bottle of liquor or a case of beer, plus one carton of cigarettes per person. No handguns or fully automatic weapons under 26 inches in length are permitted. All weapons of all types must be declared. If you are bringing children, other than your own across the border, be sure to bring a letter of authorization and proper ID. Note, a previous conviction for D.U.I could cause border crossing problems, but a new law easing the restrictions was just passed. Call us for details.

Alchohol
The legal age limit to consume alcohol in Ontario is 19. Please note: all alcoholic beverages are illegal on the lake. Anyone found with alcohol in their boat risks being fined by the Provincial Police. We DO NOT allow our Guides to drink on the job and we ask that our guests NOT encourage this. Guests are responsible for their own fines.
